This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, many of our students and their families speak Spanish as their first language.

Having books available in their home language is more than just helpful - it’s essential.

It helps children feel welcome, understood, and excited about reading.

Our school library is a place where students fall in love with books. But to truly serve all of our readers, we need to grow our collection of high-quality books in Spanish. This project will bring vibrant, engaging picture books into our collection. Stories that celebrate family, culture, identity, and imagination.

The books we’ve selected include familiar characters like Lola, Llama Llama, and Yasmin, as well as new titles that offer fresh stories and perspectives. These books will support language development in both Spanish and English. They will also help our Spanish-speaking students feel seen and valued and will encourage a lifelong love of reading by showing them that books can reflect their lives and voices.

By funding this project, you are helping us create an inclusive, welcoming library where every child can find books that speak to them, literally and figuratively. Thank you for helping us build a collection that honors the languages and cultures of our school community. 💛📖
