Keep reading FUN!! My students have been learning in both Spanish and English in a dual language classroom, and our classroom library needs more books in Spanish.
Our school is in an urban setting where many of the students come from economically disadvantaged homes.
They have become so interested in books and reading this year, especially when given a chance to read the latest and greatest popular titles. They are learning, reading and writing in both English and Spanish in a unique opportunity through a dual language program in class. The classroom library is stocked with books in English, but Spanish titles have been harder to come by.
My Project
We would like some books in Spanish that are currently popular and are the types of books from Barnes and Noble and Borders, where the students may not otherwise read them because of a lack of access. The books would be used by several classes of students and would still be available to use in future school years.
This project will help to grow my students' interest in reading and seeking out new books.
The students need more access to different types of literature in order to increase their fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. Having these additional books in their classroom library will provide them quick access to quality literature.
