My Students

Each morning we have a football chant to get pumped for the day! Literacy starts with a read aloud and then my kids begging for reading time. You can hear a pin drop during DEAR time. My biggest challenge is getting them the books they want to read that are current. "Decide what to be and GO BE IT!

My students are gifted and talented.

It's a 5th grade classroom. They have looped up together since second grade. They are super smart and have so many tremendous talents. We are extremely hands -on in my classroom. We do lots of project-based learning. I want them to learn information in a way that makes sense for each one of them. They love to read and share books and stories. They are creative and fun. My school is in Queens, New York. I have involved parents and caregivers. I have a principal who gives me the freedom to teach the curriculum in a way that allows me to be the best teacher I can for my students. More than anything they love to read. Anytime I bring in a new book, they fight for who will get it first. I would love to be able to give them a new, updated library!

My Project

My students devour books. These books will give my class an updated library that they crave. The titles are current, as are the topics. My students will be able to have current book clubs and share these books with each other and other 5th grade classes.

These donations will help me provide my students with current, interesting books that they might not otherwise be able to get their hands on.

They need new books and would appreciate every word on every page. They share books and write reviews together. This new library would make them extremely happy!
