This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I would like to create a library of Spanish Medical and Science themed books for my students in the Medical Magnet. Currently my classroom has a very limited number of medical related books that I have purchase throughout the years of my career. The library that I would like to start would have books that have information about Healthcare and Science both in Spanish and English.
The goal for this project is to give my students more literary resources on how they can use Spanish in the healthcare field.
Additionally these books would include from the (DK How Stuff Works) collections such as how food works in your body, how science works, how psychology works, and how the body works. Other books requested include: why we need more Hispanic physician doctors, learn Spanish for healthcare workers, medical terminology, information about biology, the human body anatomy, viruses, vaccines, and natural remedies. My students are incredibly hard workers and many of them are gifted or highly gifted; these books would be a great resource for extended learning, cross curricular lessons and activities for early finishers.
