This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a class of diverse learners from diverse backgrounds. This is a large group of curious and enthusiastic learners! By 2nd grade my students are really developing their reading skills and love reading chapter books. We are learning more challenging concepts in math and these young learners are continually proving they are ready to challenge themselves.

My students are hardworking, energetic, and full of questions!

They love to make connections between their lives and the world around them. Their energy makes everyday an adventure in our classroom!

My Project

We love reading in 2nd grade. Students beg to be able to have silent reading time or time to read with partners. They love all books but lately I have been buying a lot more chapter books. I haven't bought many new picture books in a while and my students love any new books we get.

The books I have chosen are books that are award winners and represent a wide range of main characters.

Developing a love for reading is one of my biggest goals as a teacher and one way to do that is to expose my students to many different kinds of books and characters.
