Help me give my students engaging reading lessons and maker space activities from the school library in their own classroom environment with a Premium Royal Inspiration Station.
I am the librarian in a Title 1 school in Jacksonville and a majority of our students come from low-income families. We run a food-pantry out of our school and 93% of our students are economically disadvantaged. Our Kindergarten students often come to school with little or no experience with print and literature. Many of our older students read well below grade level.
My Project
Our amazing teachers have found creative and engaging ways to help our students, but this year is going to be especially challenging for all of us due to Covid-19. Instead of children being able to come to the library, I will need to travel to each classroom. We have already been told that the school does not have the budget to purchase carts for our resource teachers. I would like to purchase this incredible "Inspiration Station" cart to hold books, craft and maker space supplies, charts/graphs and various literacy activities. I believe this cart would be an asset that would help me keep my reading lessons exciting and engaging for our students, especially during this difficult time. Although I realize my project is quite costly, it will impact ALL of the K-5 students in our school and not just one classroom.
