My students need bookmarks - such a simple thing. Every school has them, right? Unfortunately, it's a luxury for many Title One schools, including mine.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Who doesn't love a bookmark? Every librarian loves to hand them out, but even more - kids love to receive them!
My students are amazing kids.
Although most live in poverty area, they view themselves as leaders with a future! They set high goals for themselves, including in the area of reading, and I would love to encourage them with a variety of bookmarks. My students appreciate everything they are gifted. They take nothing for granted. They work hard for every step forward they take. They're great kids and deserve the simple luxury of bookmarks!
My Project
My students will be excited and encouraged by the addition of interesting bookmarks. Occasionally, I purchase them myself. When I set out bookmarks, they are overjoyed and really proud. For Title One kids, pursuing reading as a pleasurable activity is not always easy, but bookmarks put a smile on everyone's face and make my library a welcoming space for students.
My project is important because it's so simple, yet necessary.
When parents have greater economic means, they easily provide the funding for basic items. My kids deserve these, too! They need to feel like they are valued readers and bookmarks are a part of that experience. When you support my bookmark project, you are helping to shape their reading identity.
