My Students
Our classroom community is made up of a diverse group of kindergarten students who vary in ethnicity, home language, socioeconomic status and learning style. As teachers, we are committed to creating an equitable learning environment in which all children can grow academically and socially.
In addition to our rigorous curriculum, we also support our students' learning through project-based learning.
These projects help us demonstrate our learning in ways that are meaningful to us. Students are given the opportunity to direct their own learning and are empowered to express their understanding in their unique ways.
My Project
This library boost will give students a flurry of new books to explore and will sustain reading engagement in the long term. The books in this project are selected with my students in mind - this project includes extra copies of favorite storybooks (so multiple students can be enjoying the same story as well as connect with each other during reading discussions) and adds new all-time favorite picture books, leveled for kindergarten and first grade.
Full of compelling characters, imaginative illustrations, and silly situations, these books are a great way to build story-time excitement and help young students grow their love of reading.
I've also included a collection of 20 books filled with lessons of compassion and caring. These inspiring stories celebrate the importance of being yourself, respecting others, and doing the right thing - and support the virtues of our school community. My students' reading engagement is soaring, and this project will sustain their excitement about books in the long term!
