Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love seeing my students have a meaningful learning experience every day! In order to meet their literacy needs, I need to provide my students with a strong print-rich environment. My students come from low poverty neighborhoods and lack access to literacy resources. Currently, we do not have lots of stories to listen to in our library. Have stories to be read aloud is very beneficial to students who are struggling readers and to spark interest in reading for these students.

By having read-aloud books to listen to my beginning readers will have an opportunity to enjoy books and not feel pressured to read.

Having read aloud books will allow my students to feel more comfortable with books around them. They find that their classroom is a place where they are able to safely explore, make leaps and bounds with support from their peers and me. Help me further ignite their imagination by providing them with a variety of books in the classroom to read, reflect, and have meaningful conversations about what they are reading.

My Project

I want to create a print-rich environment in my classroom. Since most of my students do not have the opportunity to buy books for themselves at home, I strive to make my classroom library their heaven for enjoyable books.

Help me provide a variety of books to enhance my first-grade students reading experience during independent reading time and to instill the love for reading.

What a great way to start the journey of reading by having enjoyable material at hand for my students in first grade. Currently, we lack these wonderful books in our library. The only way to grow in more words is to have more words to read.
