Help me give my students library books for our classroom. We always strive to meet our Accelerated Reader goals. having a variety of genres and levels for my students to choose from will make them more successful.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a large Title I school with a high ESL population. In addition to teaching 4 sections of 25 students, I also coach a Girls on the Run team, as well as our own boys’ running club. Not only are they learning inside the classroom, but also during our after school programs. They would love to have a broader selection of reading materials available to them in our classroom. We also read aloud books every day, which we all enjoy.
My Project
These materials will allow my students a wider range of books to choose from in an effort for them to meet all of their Accelerated Reader goals each 9 weeks. I have a wide range of readers in my classroom, as well as many English as a Second Language readers. My goal is to be able to offer them books on their levels, as well as books above their level in hopes of raising their comprehension. They love to read one on one with me as well, even if it is books in their native language. They are able to see great progress when they are successful in taking their accelerated reader tests after finishing the books. My students are also allowed to participate in incentive parties when they have met all of their goals! They all look forward to this each nine weeks!
