This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a self-contained special education teacher who teaches students that have a variety of disabilities which include, down syndrome, autism, speech and language impairment, ADHD, intellectual disabilities and other health impairments.
Because it is a Title I school, students often begin the school year without the proper supplies and we have limited resources.
We are part of the New York City Department of Education. My classroom also includes a wide range of immigrants from various cultures. My students have difficulty focusing and staying on task. I create my own lesson plans to differentiate for every students' learning needs, skills, abilities and cultural diversity.
I would love for all of my students to be motivated to learn, have fun, be comfortable and have access to the same materials in order to be successful. My students, are trying their best to navigate through learning during the pandemic. They need your help!
My Project
My special education students deserve an organized library and supplies. These students are on different levels so it is important to have categorized labeled bins. Keeping their supplies separate so that no sharing happens is important during these unforeseen times. We are trying to reduce the spread of any germs.
Being that they are entering Kindergarten during this time I would like for them to have a clean and organized classroom library to enhance their academic growth.
I have always wanted a welcoming readers corner for my students and organization is key. These plastic bins are very easy to wipe down and keep sanitary during these unforeseen times. We want to avoid spreading germs as much as possible. Having an organized library will allow my special education students to go to their level bin and borrow books during blended learning without touching every other bin. Also, having individual supply bins would be a huge help to reduce the spread of germs. They deserve your help!
