My Students
Do you remember when you started to read? Who helped you the most? What was the first book you read? All these questions are things I want my students to remember in the future. My students are from a high poverty area who may not have the proper books and support at home. I have a small self-contained classroom of Kindergarten and first-grade students who are in desperate need of books for home use and guided reading. The beautiful young minds of 4-6-year-olds need your help! They are creative, kind and eager to learn.
Let's make sure we teach this generation to love reading by giving them access to multiple varieties of books across all levels.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students have a home in my classroom and my students' homes. In other words, many of the books from this donation and what little I have in my library, will be sent to my students and their families. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! Each student will receive books to take home to encourage reading with their families. Each child will also have access to choose which guided reading book that they would like to learn that day. This gives the students a chance to feel important by picking a book that interests them.
