This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am in charge of my classroom library and I am working hard to bring in new, high-interest books for my students to read like "In Real Life" by Cory Doctorow and "The PigMan" by Paul Zindel that the students can connect with on a personal level and see themselves in the characters from the books. Our inability as teachers to be face-to-face with students and help them pick out some great books during the pandemic was difficult. Now, we are trying to catchup and the students need a wide variety of leveled readers to get them back on track. My students will now be able to pick up a great book that they enjoy reading for the love of reading. These books, at varied reading levels, will help build my classroom library and help my students read both at school and at home.
