This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a low income, rural community where students do not have access to technology.
The students I teach are 80% minority.
The students I teach are wonderful children who deserve to have experiences that students in larger more affluent school districts receive. These students do not have access to technology on a daily basis. Our middle school is the only middle school in the entire county.
My Project
Using technology is important for students; as a teacher I am attempting to produce students who will be globally competitive. My students having access to technology to use on a daily basis will allow them to be better prepared to enter a technology driven workforce.
I plan to have my students plant a garden this year.
This project is called "The Learning Garden" students will be challenged to use the tablet to document their experiences with the garden. Students will share at the end of the year by creating a digital book to share with their peers as well as family.
