My students attend a Title I school. This year I will be working with second graders. They are students of varying backgrounds. The students in the class are English Language Learners.
For some students this will be their first time back into the school building in over a year!
It is going to be a difficult adjustment for many, if not all of them. I am hoping to ease them into this school year with engaging elements that will motivate them to push themselves to their highest capabilities.
My Project
These books will help supplement the current classroom library. Students will be able to have access to better quality literature, both fiction & nonfiction. They will be able to read these books in both school & at home to build their stamina and comprehension as readers. Reading is such a vital skill to develop in the primary grades & when students are able to have more choices they can find books that they love. In the end, I hope students are able to develop the love of reading now so that they can continue it into the future.
