Leveling the Field: Gear Up for Our Girls' Softball Season

My Project

Our middle school softball team is part of a unique and growing school community. Since our campus first opened its doors in 2017, the focus has been on building strong academics, especially in STEAM education — and while we’re proud of that foundation, athletics didn’t receive the same early investment. Today, we're working to change that by building a program that empowers our student-athletes and shows them that their passion and dedication matter, too.

We are in critical need of basic softball equipment — including practice balls, bats, gloves, catching gear, helmets, and a proper equipment bag to carry it all.

Many of our players are using borrowed gear or sharing with teammates, but they deserve equipment they can call their own. One of the most impactful tools we’re requesting is a Champion Sports Rhino Flex Portable Training Net, which will allow us to run effective pitching and hitting stations even on our limited field space. With it, every player will get more quality reps and more chances to grow their skills.

Unlike other schools, we don’t have a dedicated softball field. We must take a bus to a shared off-site field for games and practices — but because of tight transportation windows and scheduling conflicts, we often have to practice on our school’s small, multi-use field. We adapt by marking bases with cones and working around uneven ground. Even so, our team shows up with determination, pride, and resilience — ready to play, no matter the conditions.
