With no dedicated budget for middle school softball, your donations filled a critical gap and made a tremendous impact on our student-athletes.\r\nThanks to you, our teams received essential equipment that allowed them to play the game safely, confidently, and competitively. When the boxes arrived, the excitement among our students was palpable—one student exclaimed, \"It's like Christmas!\" That moment of joy and anticipation was unforgettable and truly special for all of us.\r\nAmong the items received, the bats stood out—not only for their quality but for the results they helped produce. Our 7th-grade team used them throughout the season and went undefeated! Your contributions directly supported their success and helped build memories that will last a lifetime.\r\nWithout your kindness, our students would not have been well-equipped to participate in the sport they love. You've made a lasting difference in their lives, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755562039269,"projectUrl":"project/leveling-the-field-gear-up-for-our-girl/9369152/","projectTitle":"Leveling the Field: Gear Up for Our Girls' Softball Season","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Pacheco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7823443_orig.png?crop=377,377,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1620855363495","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ywa-warriors"},{"teacherId":8179751,"projectId":8997592,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project at the Young Women's STEAM Academy. Our 6th grade students, all bright young minds engaged in Project-Based Learning, have been thrilled to use the new cardboard cutter in their STEAM-focused curriculum. Because of their age, traditional tools like sharp blades pose a safety risk, so this resource has given them a much safer way to bring their creativity to life. The students have begun designing their own games and using the cutter to shape pieces and models that would have been impossible to do with scissors alone. Their initial reaction was a mix of excitement and hesitation—until they saw me model how to use the cutter. From that point on, their confidence and enthusiasm grew tremendously.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable uses of the cardboard cutter came from our high school students, who borrowed it to create a life-sized Barbie box for a STEAM conference they hosted on campus. It became a highlight of the event and showed how this tool supports creativity across grade levels. Looking ahead, I'm excited to share that I will be leading a professional development session in our district to show other teachers how to safely use this equipment in their classrooms. Your contribution didn't just impact one classroom—it's helping shape how educators across our district think about hands-on learning and safety. The girls are having a wonderful time studying the poets and searching for thematic connections between the texts. Their task in UIL is to create two programs which fit the following categories 'finding joy in the little things' and 'hope for a better tomorrow'. The students are able to explore those two categories in whatever way they choose. For example, I have a student who is using the work of Amanda Gorman to talk about the hope for a more diverse and accepting future. I have another student who is using the works of Gary Soto and Ada Limon to talk about finding joy in culture and tradition. These books are already opening so many avenues of creative possibility for my students and we are very grateful for them!","fullyFundedDate":1734817634862,"projectUrl":"project/help-young-women-slam-with-contemporary/9010846/","projectTitle":"Help Young Women Slam With Contemporary Poetry Books for Competition!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. G","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8260450_orig.png?crop=481,481,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1641396172240","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8260450"},{"teacherId":8179751,"projectId":8515172,"letterContent":"Thank you for your incredible support in providing our students at the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy with the Makey Makey Invention Kits. These resources have truly transformed our classroom learning experiences across multiple subjects.\r\n\r\nIn Social Studies, the girls used the Makey Makey kits during our Food Deserts Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit. They designed interactive solutions to address food insecurity, creating projects that showcased innovative thinking and highlighted the real-world application of their learning. Watching their faces light up as they turned simple circuits into functional tools to communicate their ideas was unforgettable!\r\n\r\nIn Science, the Makey Makey kits helped bring energy principles to life in our Roller Coaster PBL. The students created interactive models that demonstrated concepts like kinetic and potential energy, integrating technology and creativity seamlessly. One student group designed a virtual roller coaster ride that buzzed and lit up when specific forces were applied, leaving the class amazed.\r\n\r\nWhen the girls first saw the kits, their excitement was contagious. They handled the materials with so much care, knowing these tools were a gift to inspire their creativity and curiosity. The kits not only enhanced our projects but also helped build a sense of responsibility and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to refine the use of Makey Makey kits by fostering peer-to-peer learning. Some students have shown exceptional skill and creativity with the kits, and I intend to encourage their leadership by having them run mini-workshops for their classmates. These experiences will deepen their skills and empower them to teach and inspire others.\r\n\r\nYour support has been a cornerstone in helping these young women grow into confident, innovative thinkers.
