My students need a SAT and ACT resource to start practicing from the beginning of high school.

My Students
My school is a visual and performing arts school with a culture that stresses Academic and Artistic Excellence. My students are respectful and they are extremely talented. Their disabilities are very individual, just like them. What can be the most frustrating for them is that the disabilities are invisible, which can lead to misunderstandings about their abilities and limitations.
Often, I say it is like scrambled eggs.
A student's disability gets scrambled in with fatigue, personality, and a challenging workload. Anxiety can get the best of "my kids," and we often need to take a deep breath. Most of the classes here are honors classes; it can be a very difficult journey to graduation. One of their biggest challenges is the SAT and the ACT. Even with accommodations, these college entrance exams have proven to be roadblocks to college. I'd like to introduce another resource that they can easily access on their phones to start practicing from the first day of 9th grade.
My Project
When my students begin the college application process, they have often not thought about the SAT and ACT very much. School has been difficult for them and the last thing on their minds is a test that is years away. But before they and their parents realize it, years have flown by and it’s time to take college entrance exams. My students are usually not ready for the abstract nature of the questions and they need to start practicing in “chunks” from the very beginning of high school. When added as a part of their schedule, they will see this practice as just another rock in the road rather than something extra to be done with leftover time. The Albert resource will provide a fresh and efficient approach to preparing. My students will get to their junior year better prepared for and less anxious about these “high stakes” tests. Less anxiety plus preparation will result in a score that truly reflects their abilities, opening more college options for my students.
