This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my first year teaching and I am lucky to have 17 amazing second-grade students. I work in a Title 1 New York City school that serves 500 children in pre k- 5th grade. My students are constantly trying their best to succeed in the classroom. My students have been negatively impacted by the pandemic and they are working hard inside and outside of the classroom. My students face many challenges every day. I would love to give my students a better education and give them the supplies they need in order to succeed.
My Project
These books will give my students the opportunity to read for fun. My students are struggling readers due to the pandemic and they could really use these books to help them build their fluency. The books that are available to my students are either too difficult or they are not interested in them. Having these books will give my students a chance to read a book that they have not seen in our classroom library yet. Every child should get the chance to read a book that they are interested in and a book that they are able to understand. This will help my students learn to love reading.
