This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would like to ask for leveled reading books for my grade level team at Costano Elementary School, a school located in the heart of East Palo Alto. I would like to ask for books for our second grade team that are at our students' reading levels.
We are using Running Record Analysis to level our students. Many of our second grade students are reading varying levels of kindergarten, first and second grade texts according to our formative analysis assessment DRWAP- Dominie Reading and Writing Assessment Portfolio (similar to the DRA).
We would like to request funds to receive books at our students' just right reading levels. With these books, we plan to accelerate our students to grade level and even beyond grade level. We need texts that our students can read so that we can gradually increase their text level difficulty to support their growth and learning.
We plan on using individual book boxes for each student so that each child can read books that are at his or her instructional level. That is, books that are not too easy and also books that are not frustrating.
We have ordered levels A-L through your on-line books store. These levels will meet the different levels of students in our classes.
