My Project

This project focuses on leveled nonfiction reading books for the classroom. They include Kindergarten and 1st-grade level books that help students have access to nonfiction text. Students come into class with varying reading levels. These books will allow them to access the task and be able to participate in researching facts and learning information using nonfiction text features.

Having texts that students can independently read at their own level, helps them participate in research with their peers and learn with a sense of accomplishment.

Text features such as illustrations, graphs, bold-faced words, highlighted words, captions, etc. help the reader learn about the topic. By having books at their reading level, students feel successful when they can contribute to the conversation.
