This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
By the end of the year my students should be reading and comprehending level M. Many children enter the second grade reading below grade level with little interest in reading. By providing brand new books to my classroom my students will be motivated to read both fiction and non-fiction stories.
My students are sweet, loving kids that enjoy school and learning new things.
We are a blended family of different cultures, learning styles, and vibrant personalities. They are curious, empathetic, and open-minded little humans. Our school is located in the South Bronx. In my classroom I have many English Language Learners and Students with IEPs. This year 90% of my class was reading below grade level at the beginning of the school year.
My Project
My students will use these fiction and non-fiction books to read independently on their reading level. The children can also write about the books they read in their readers journal. The grammar collection will aide my students in both learning and mastering these skills in a fun new way.
The brand new books will get my students excited about reading.
They will go on exciting adventures and open their eyes to different experiences. Having a new selection of current literature will put a smile on their face.
