This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Pre-K students come from a high poverty community! We are located in the inner city of Baltimore City and have 500 students in our school. Students in Pre-K are at a disadvantage with the amount of math and language arts materials.
Pre-K is the time for students to become engaged in learning and learn how to be creators, explorers, artists, dreamers, scholars, heroes and world changers.
My students are actively engaged everyday in purposeful play to learn about the world around them and how to change it!
My Project
My students in Baltimore City are at a disadvantage when they come to me because most of the time, they did not have access to books on their individual level as well as work on loving to read with any books. With the books that I have in my classroom now, I need to have organization and a place for students to be able to check out the books.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”— Dr. Seuss, “I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!”
With this cart and checkout system, it will be easy for my students to find the correct book to read and then checkout the book that they can take home and read as well.
