More than three-fourths of my students come from a low-income background. They also live in apartment complexes and have a transitional background in their living arrangements. School is a safe haven and happy place where I can inspire them to grow.
My students have a thirst for knowledge and aspire for growth every day.
The parents strive to give their children more but might lack the ability to know how to accomplish this task. Educators at our school strive daily to give our students the best education, love, and nurturing that we can!
My students live in the Houston area where Hurricane Harvey came in August. Our district has suffered losses in many schools, and we missed many instructional days of class. It was difficult for our students to return and start a routine again when so many had gone through a loss or had other family members going through a loss of a home.
These leveled books will give my students the opportunity to read fun and engaging literature at their independent levels while encouraging them to grow as readers. Having both fiction and non-fiction resources will provide numerous topics and themes so that students will always be able to find something exciting and inspiring. The wide range of leveled books will insure that every student has appropriate books at their fingertips. My students will be able to select according to their interests and have the flexibility of returning to the classroom library for new selections throughout the day rather than being restricted to weekly visits to the school library.
