Leveled Books for Growing Readers!

My students need leveled books to ensure that all students have a variety of independent reading books that are just right for them!

My Students

I teach a Kindergarten and 1st grade multi-age classroom in an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!

I am a second-year teacher needing some help to equip my classroom library with leveled books for my developing readers that need to continue being challenged.

There are leveled books in bins that students are to choose their "just right" books from. When there are only a few books in a bin, students start to become bored of reading the same few books in their leveled bin. I want my students to be engaged in the books they are reading and to be able to choose from a variety.

My Project

In this project, I have requested for leveled books from levels D (Kindergarten level) all the way through O (3rd grade level). I have a multi-age class, which drastically increases the broad range of levels that students are in. I have Kindergarteners just beginning to reading a few words, to 1st graders reading 3rd grade level books! Instead of students re-reading the same books in their leveled bins and losing interest in the books they are reading, I would like for all of my students to be excited and stay motivated in reading through many different types of books. I know they will all be thrilled to see the leveled bins filled so they can have more choice in what they get to read.
