My Students
Help put books into my student's hands! Most of my students do not have books at their homes and rely on our classroom library for their access to books. I'm trying to build a classroom library with leveled readers that my students can check out and take home with them.
My first grade students are struggling readers that come from a high poverty population.
We are in an Illinois public school. My students have a thirst for learning but lack the resources at home to continue their learning once they leave my classroom.
My Project
I'm currently trying to build up my classroom to have enough books that students can check them out and take them home. Ideally I would love to have leveled readers so the students can practice reading at home on their instructional level. By giving to this project you would be putting books into the hands of excited and eager students. Many of my students are struggling readers, yet they are young enough to still be motivated and passionate about learning how to read.
This project is so important to me because all classroom teachers struggle to bridge the gap between home and school.
By gaining access to leveled readers my students would be able to continue the learning that takes place in the classroom in their home!
