My Project
My students LOVE to read and learn together. This library update will help make our classroom library a cozy, welcoming place for them to learn and grow. It is a place in my classroom where students choose to work, read, and engage in different literacy centers throughout the day and these new materials will help them better utilize this space in the classroom by providing them more opportunities to be independent.
The decodable reader book sets will provide my students with more materials that they feel that they can read independently that also align with the science of reading and phonics skills being taught in Kindergarten.
This will allow my students to feel more confident as independently readers because it will provide them with more books that they can read all by themselves! The library is also used for many different word activities and centers, and the CVC Word Splash game will help them continue to build their decoding skills in a fun, collaborative way.
Finally, the rug and clipboards will help make this a cozy, comfortable space that my students can use all day long. Getting a class set of clipboards will provide my students with more opportunities to use the library as a flexible seating area while completing independent and partner work. The rug will help the students have a comfortable space to read and learn together while defining this area within my classroom.
My young students are so excited and have already grown so much as readers in the first half of the year! Upgrading our classroom library space and new reading materials will help them continue to grow their confidence as readers each and every day!
