This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me give my students, in this under-resourced school district, access to the cutting-edge STEAM education they deserve by funding the Sphero littleBits STEAM+ Coding Kit. These exceptionally expensive tools, far beyond our current budget, offer a unique and engaging pathway to coding, engineering, and creative problem-solving. By investing in this kit, you're not just providing toys; you're leveling the playing field, empowering students who often lack access to advanced technology with the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Your contribution will directly translate into tangible learning experiences, fostering critical thinking, and igniting a passion for STEM that can break the cycle of disadvantage and pave the way for future success.
For example, imagine students with sensory sensitivities creating light-up art projects using the LittleBits LED modules, or students with motor skill challenges designing and coding a Sphero robot to navigate a custom-built obstacle course.
We can use the kit to design adaptive tools, like a vibrating bracelet to help students with auditory processing difficulties stay on task, or a motion-activated light switch for those with limited mobility. We can also create interactive story-telling experiences, where students code Sphero robots to act out scenes, fostering communication and social interaction. Furthermore, we can develop accessible coding challenges that break down complex concepts into manageable steps, allowing all students to experience the thrill of creating and problem-solving. These are just a few examples of how the Sphero LittleBits STEAM+ Coding Kit will empower our students, providing them with the tools and opportunities to unlock their full potential.
