Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our vibrant inner-city middle school, the library is a place where imaginations soar, new worlds are discovered, and futures begin for our students. This project is about transforming our library into an engaging and inclusive space that celebrates cultural diversity and unique experiences that sparks a lifelong love for learning.

The books stands and signage contribute to creating an environment where literacy can flourish for students who may have limited access to books.

The book stands would allow us to showcase diverse, high-interest titles more prominently, acting as visual invitations for students to browse and find books that resonate with their lives and cultural backgrounds. The book stands would allow us to highlight authors and titles that reflect diversity as well as their heritage. Clear book signage will act like friendly guides that make it easier for our second language learners to navigate the shelves and find just the right book, reducing frustration and building independence. The book signage would feature reader friendly facts and bilingual translations of spotlighted books. Our new motivational posters and cozy pillows will fill the space with positive messages reminding our students every day that their dreams are within reach. These additions are small investments that will make a huge difference in opening up the world of literacy for our students.

Our main goal with this project to see more students progress in their reading journey. Our students bring an incredible resilience, rich cultural heritage, and boundless potential into our building every day. By helping us create a library that supports their growth, you're investing in their future and the power of stories to change lives.
