They are applying new skills introduced by the project's resources. The Story Cubes have improved their retelling skills to construct a narrative as they initiate discussions and engage in lively book talks. The origami encourages collaboration and enhances comprehension as students are required to pay close attention to sequential instruction in a text. Students problems solve with their peers and take pride in creating origami figures. The Rubik's cubes, bookmark kits, and snacks have turned the library experience into a dynamic, collaborative environment. Snacks create a relaxed vibe while drawing characters or creating bookmarks related to graphic novels or favorite reads. These materials have positively impacted students' perception of a library associating it with positive reinforcement and enjoyment. These materials not only provide a brain break, but cater to the creative needs and unique learning style of each student, which positively contributes to literacy skills and fosters a culture of lifelong learning.","fullyFundedDate":1754598342098,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-lunch-and-learn/9402409/","projectTitle":"Literacy, Lunch, and Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. CAMPOS","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5649485"},{"teacherId":5649485,"projectId":9446989,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our students approach to reading and digital literacy in the library has shifted from obligation to excitement. Your contribution is an investment that places our students on the \"WRITE\" track for reading success. Students were so exited to see the materials and asked if they could keep them, write on them, or if they were free. \r\n\r\nWe'd like to share how the materials funded are used to foster engagement and a genuine love of reading. The personal reading list trackers/bookmarks are a powerful motivator for many students. One student proudly displays her progress on her bookmark with each new read and is enjoying her library visits. The sticky notes and index cards are used to check for understanding and students enjoy reading each other's responses on the collaborative anchor chart. The candy treats and decorative books provide immediate positive reinforcement and student's faces light up when they receive one for a contributing to a discussion or writing an excellent descriptive book review. In a recent class discussion, another student who rarely speaks up wrote a used a sticky note to make a connection with a character in a book. \r\n\r\nThis is the ultiate goal, to empower students to become better writers through reading and vice versa. They are more than organizational tools; they are visual invitaitons to explore our library. They showcase books that celevrate student's unique backgrounds and experiences. We have noticed an increase in students discovering new authors andn topics that resonate with them. The new signage has been impactful for our second language learners because the signage acts like friendly guides that make the library seem less intimidating. I noticed a student who used the bilingual spotlighted book to confidently select a title. \r\nStudents also linger a little bit longer near the cozy pillows where they read, discuss books, and enjoy the positive affirmations.\r\n\r\nUtlimately our main goal was to see more student progress in their reading journey. The iPads and Apple Pencil have given students access to interactive lessons, visual models, and digital tools that make learning more engaging and meaningful. Many of my students had never used this kind of technology before, so watching their curiosity and excitement grow has been truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nThe Apple Pencil has become a favorite for both students and teachers—it allows for precise writing, drawing, and problem-solving in math and science. Students love being able to annotate directly on their assignments, create colorful graphs, and explain their thinking in creative ways. The technology has especially helped my visual and multilingual learners, who benefit from being able to sketch, color-code, and interact with digital notes rather than just reading text on paper.\r\n\r\nThe Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has also had a huge impact. It has allowed me to purchase ready-to-use, high-quality resources that align with our lessons and support differentiation for every learner in my classroom. From bilingual materials to interactive math activities, these resources have saved me valuable time and helped me meet the diverse needs of my students more effectively.\r\n\r\nOne of my quietest students, who used to hesitate sharing answers, now volunteers to demonstrate solutions on the iPad—something that never would have happened before. The confidence and pride these tools have brought out in my students are beyond measure.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made learning exciting, interactive, and accessible for every student in my classroom. You didn't just fund materials—you've invested in creativity, confidence, and opportunity. As an educator, I'm constantly searching for new ways to engage students, meet their diverse learning needs, and make lessons come alive. With your support, I was able to access an incredible library of teacher-created resources that have truly transformed both instruction and student engagement.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, many of my lessons required hours of creating materials from scratch. While I love designing activities for my students, time can often be a barrier when balancing instruction, grading, meetings, and student support. Thanks to your donation, I was able to purchase high-quality, ready-to-use lessons, games, assessments, and visual supports directly aligned to our learning goals and standards. This allowed me to focus more on what matters most—teaching and connecting with my students.\r\n\r\nThe resources I purchased through Teachers Pay Teachers have made learning more interactive and student-centered. For example, my students now use colorful graphic organizers, collaborative games, and engaging practice activities that help them master challenging math concepts while having fun. Many of my students are multilingual learners who benefit greatly from visuals and scaffolds, and having access to bilingual and differentiated materials has made a huge difference in their confidence and understanding.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is how each new activity feels fresh and creative. Instead of repeating the same worksheet format, they get to work through tasks that are thoughtfully designed by teachers who understand how kids learn best. I've noticed a significant increase in participation—students who used to be reluctant to volunteer are now eager to engage in lessons that feel more like games or puzzles than traditional assignments. It's incredible to see how much joy authentic, hands-on learning can bring.\r\n\r\nThe Teachers Pay Teachers gift card also allowed me to support students at different levels of mastery. With access to differentiated assignments, I can challenge advanced learners with enrichment projects while giving additional practice and visual supports to those who need them. This flexibility has helped create a more inclusive classroom where every student feels successful.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came when a student who normally struggles with math proudly told me, \"I actually get this now!\" after completing an interactive activity I purchased with your support. That confidence boost was priceless—and it reminded me why resources like these are so powerful.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only saved me countless hours but also elevated the quality of learning for my students. Every resource purchased continues to be used, shared, and adapted for future lessons. The impact extends far beyond a single classroom—it inspires continued creativity and growth.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for investing in my classroom. Because of you, my students are learning with excitement, and I'm better equipped to give them the engaging, high-quality instruction they deserve. Your kindness truly made a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1647465654271,"projectUrl":"project/differentiated-digital-lessons/6096168/","projectTitle":"Differentiated Digital Lessons","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6146798_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y745&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692212220363","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/brion-williams"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103536","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":578,"numTeachers":67,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"8.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.3,"schoolId":103536,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Zan Wesley Holmes Junior Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Zan Wesley Holmes Junior Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/dallas-independent-school-district/zan-wesley-holmes-junior-mid-school/103536"}
