Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My photography students are excited about making amazing photos. They show up early and leave late. They want to know everything about cameras and lighting and soak up everything they can learn.
Photography is a refuge for my students.
When class starts, they dive into new projects with a sense of excitement and joy. They document the difficult world around them and try to find beauty in the everyday and mundane. With an dauntless sense of creativity, they impress me every day.
My Project
A tripod is an invaluable tool for new photographers. Blurry photos and tilted panoramas are just some of the problems that can be solved with this useful beginner's tool.
When a photo gets shaky, you need a little support.
With a lightweight, low-cost tripod students will be able to create amazing photos and projects. One activity we would like to do takes a panoramic photo and uses photo editing techniques to squeeze, twist and turn a photo into a miniature planet. Without a tripod, these photos are difficult to accomplish and students become frustrated.
To make creativity happen you need the right tools. Our class is lucky to have cameras, but we lack some of the accessories that let students be successful. Every class needs specialized tools; an English class needs books, a history class needs maps, and a photography class needs tripods.
