This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Kindergarten students attend school on the West Side of Detroit. The majority of my students come from low-income homes and face many challenges that impact their education. Despite the challenges many of my students face in their daily lives, they are ready to take on the world!
My goal each year is to create strong bonds with my students, so that they feel loved, valued and safe.
My classroom is home to active 5 year olds who are full of laughter and chatter! They come to school excited to explore and learn new things!
My Project
My Kindergartners are beginning to learn the names of letters and the sounds they represent. They are quickly becoming readers and writers!! The materials I am requesting will be used during Workshop time in our Literacy Centers. These hands-on ABC materials will allow my students to be actively involved in the learning process.
The magnetic letters and manipulatives will provide students with the opportunity to explore and learn while interacting with their classmates. My students will love "fishing" for letters, "unlocking" beginning sounds, and sorting rhyming words.
These materials will assist my students in learning letters, sounds, sight words, rhyming words and so much more!
