Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first graders from an economically disadvantaged school. Many of their families can't afford to purchase lunch for their children, much less books and other school supplies. Some of them do not have the funds for transportation to the public library either. So, I have decided to request help in providing my class with new books, school supplies, and expanding their opportunities to learn and grow. I hope to share my love of reading with my students by giving them access to high quality manipulatives as well as literature that will instill in them a love of reading. My goal is to create lifelong readers and learners.
My Project
We usually have a few sets of these around the room and all students can share the same letters by taking turns during rotations or center time. However, due to the current circumstances we will not be able to share manipulatives without sanitizing each letter and container before allowing another student access to the manipulatives.
We want our children to get the full experience and learning opportunities as every other first grader before them.
They deserve the very best education possible and that is what you could help me provide.
