My Students

Our classroom is unique. There is no traditional school furniture because we are not learning in a traditional manner. We encourage conversation and collaboration. We also don’t put limits on the way we think, create, and collaborate.

My students are identified as gifted and talented, and in encouraging higher-level, student-led thinking, some of the limitations of traditional classrooms have to be removed.

In order to eliminate the traditional limitations, they have to be given more access. Allowing students to choose how they access information also allows them to take more ownership and accountability in their learning.

My Project

When asked, some of the things my students hated about hybrid learning last year was that everything was on the computer. They wanted print articles and assignments to annotate, highlight, or to ease eye strain. They missed having interactive notebooks where they could easily access their materials to take notes and study. They found it difficult to work with their peers through online platforms and just wanted paper assignments to make collaboration easier and more social. Having access to a printer in class will allow them to easily annotate text without limitations, continue interactive notebooks, and promote social collaboration to maximize student learning.
