Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a diverse group of third grade students from a small farming community in northern California. We do not allow our financial backgrounds or differences to hold us back from achieving our goals.
Our public school has a large number of free or reduced-priced lunch students.
Many students are not able to bring much needed supplies from home in order to be successful in school. We enjoy reading, writing, doing math, as well as learning about science, history, and technology.
My Project
My students will begin learning all about the life cycles of various animals, insects, and plants. We spend a great deal of time writing, drawing, and reconstructing the life cycles.
Children are always fascinated when we learn about life cycles.
In this project, we are asking for various models of insects (honeybee, praying mantis, and butterfly) and animals. These models will give students an up close look at how insects/animals change during their life cycles.
We are also asking for notebooks that we can use to document our learning. We use the notebooks for science to write down our investigations. We also use the notebooks for our writing journals.
