My students need clipboards and dry erase boards, with markers and erasers, to record and share what they've learned in small and whole group activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders are an active, curious bunch who enjoy learning new things.
My first grade students live and attend school in a low-income, inner city, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite their disadvantages, they are a motivated, resilient group of children. They come to school every day ready to learn and excel.
My Project
In my classroom, my students and I work both as a whole class and in small groups. During our whole group and small group lessons students are required to complete work and share what they've learned. Having clipboards, my students will be able to sit on the carpet with me and still be able to complete activities using paper and pencil, which is difficult without a hard surface. Students will be able to use the whiteboards and markers to record answers and share what they've learned with me or their partners.
I would also like my students to work independently while I'm working with a small group. To do this my students will use the clipboards to visit various centers around my classroom and record their answers. The idea of carrying their table (clipboard) with them, will allow more opportunities for centers that will interest each student.
Receiving clipboards and whiteboards will greatly impact my students.
Not only will we be more productive, but students will be able to take advantage of all areas of the classroom that would not be accessible to them if they did not have a hard surface to work on. For example, some students need to sit closer to the board, but I do not have a table for them to use. With a clipboard they would be able to sit anywhere in the room and still be able to write.
