This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Put down the devices and bring game boards back! The requested materials will be available during the hot and rainy days and during recess/lunch breaks. Board games provide social connection and physical interaction.
The more opportunities students have in interacting with one another, the better their communication and collaboration skills.
The selected games are for all levels and they are not all competitive. Classic Candyland requires no reading and minimal counting skills. Other games such as Cobra Paw and Dog Man require strategy, patience and cooperation. Students will practice being "humble in victory, gracious in defeat." Picasso Tiles inspires creativity, there is no set rule, just build. The rolling storage cart will be our Game Cart. It will be used to house the games that will be rolled in and out of the classroom. We want to avoid carrying boxes, plastic bags, and dropping pieces. The entire class will practice responsibility in packing game pieces, stowing materials back into the cart, and rolling the entire Game Cart back to the classroom. These resources can help all students develop their social and emotional learning, communication, and collaboration skills.
