Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a low-income, culturally diverse high school within San Diego Unified School District. Our families are ethnically diverse with a large proportion of refugee families, second language learners, and multicultural learners. We are a Title I school so all students receive free lunch.

Our Special Education Mod-Severe program is comprised of over forty 9th-12th grade students with moderate to severe disabilities ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, Orthopedic Impairment, Visual, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing concerns.

All have experienced significant intellectual, language, and social skills delays and have Individual Education Plans.

My students come to school eager to learn! Families are trying to keep students engaged even during this difficult time. Their eagerness to learn fuels my desire to provide a quality learning environment for all my students.

My Project

Help my Special Education High School students experience math and life! I am requesting tools my students will use to learn, touch and experience math to help them develop academic and independent living skills to be successful in life!

Your generosity with help me teach and challenge my students to develop their math skills, grow their academic and vocational skills to successfully transition to young adulthood and independent living.

Using a practice ATM machine and calculators will help develop money skills and financial awareness. Other items will provide my students with math practice to enhance learning and aid progress toward their Individual Education Goals.

My students also face many challenges with sensory regulation on a daily basis. I encourage them to use tools - "not toys" to help develop focus skills, feel save and to get ready for learning. Once again your donations help my kids see, touch and learn math and life skills!
