Let's Think Math: Inspiring Children with Cognitively Guided Instruction!
Help me give my students the opportunity to explore counting and numeracy skills with various manipulatives and learning tools. Materials such as the sorting stones and natural wood tray will support their one-to-one correspondence, cardinality, and organizational skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Paul Halmos wrote, "The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics."
As part of a cognitive guided instruction curriculum, my students are learning about numeracy, problem solving, and spatial awareness.
They are developing intentional ways of thinking about math by counting and recording collections in various ways. Every day they come to school eager to learn and ready to explore new ideas.
Our school is located in the heart of Central Los Angeles. We are a community that is constantly striving to find innovative ways for students to succeed!
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will help my students to develop their fine motor and critical thinking skills. They will practice number sense of quantity and represent items in their own perspective. It will allow them to make connections in terms of real world situations that are essential to their academic success. In addition, children will be able to make connections to their previous learning experiences. Furthermore, these materials will support the individual needs of all students and create collaborative opportunities during indoor and outdoor instruction. Children will be motivated to self-initiate creative ways of learning!
