Let's Teach High School Students How to Be Sound Engineers

My students need a professional industry level DAW recording system. We want to record and archive the musical performances at our school in a high quality way.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Shelor's classroom raised $908

This project is fully funded

My Students

Aloha- We have a small and growing group of students that create their own live music from Hawaiian acoustic music to Rock/Hip Hop music. There is a great need to teach them how to create and record their music in a high quality/industry level way. We do not have a good way to record their work.

The class that we are in is called Arts and Communications Pathway.

These are very resourceful and creative students who like to create videos, use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator programs, and make posters and multimedia projects. Many of these students also play or create their own music, do hula or dance, or just like to be involved with artistic projects. Our students put on a May Day cultural celebration, and a yearly talent show among other events. The students need a way to learn how to record these performances and their individual performances in a professional industry level way. We imagine a day in the near future where our students will be the team that records and does the live sound for our many school events. This small grant request would help us to start a recording and sound engineering club and class for the aspiring music entrepreneurs at our high school.

My Project

If we had a recording kit, we could: a. Record local music performances in a high quality way b. Students learn the value of recording/sound principles c. Students can create and market their own music CD's and mp'3's. 4. Learn the value of entrepreneurship by marketing and selling their own musical productions.

This donation would allow us to start a dedicated club & course to focus on teaching them intermediate sound recording techniques.

The ultimate result would be that our students will end up with quality music CD's and mp3 music files that they can market. Helping students find their passion and showing them a path to actualize their dreams is what this donation request is about. This mobile recording package we have requested will allow some great kids a way to learn professional techniques.
