Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My middle school students are extremely excited, proud and appreciative to have their own student led forum to express their views on a variety of topics that are important to them. They are extremely appreciative that they've been afforded the opportunity to participate in an initiative inclusive of high standards, quality equipment and professional training.

"Let's Talk" is a school wide Communication Hub for students to broadcast and engage in meaningful conversations pertinent to education, politics, social justice, relationships, music and mental health.

Using a four tier plan for the Project's success we've identified the four goals of 1) securing essential quality podcast equipment, 2) training podcasts staff and student teams, 3) creating and planning topics, schedules and podcast member teams, and 4) effectively editing and sharing podcasts to the school community and on social media.

A variety of podcasts recordings have been completed with trouble-shooting performed for improvement to future recordings. We are now at tier four where we must purchase the necessary equipment like a microphone and laptop and learn to skillfully edit recordings, and add creative effects. and content to complete the process.

The "Let's Talk" project is a must for our student podcasters to include on their resumes, and confirm the fact that each student walks away from this experience as skilled podcasters who possess impressive communication and presentation skills, the ability to effectively work in teams, adequately network and properly utilize the Podcast software to unilaterally produce outstanding Podcasts.
