My Students
As the Media Specialist, I have the great fortune of working with all 500 of the energetic and eager-to-learn children at our PreK-5th grade Title I school!
We are located in East Greensboro.
79% of our students come from an economically disadvantaged background and 9.5% of our students begin Kindergarten with Kindergarten Readiness skills. Approximately 20% of our student population are English Language Learners. Our students work hard and they love to learn and grow.
Through the school library, we are so excited to offer relevant, current reading materials to engage our students and provide them with the opportunity to develop and strengthen their reading and comprehension skills and to grow into lifelong learners and readers.
My Project
Today, more than ever, we need to help our students consider, reflect and talk about their feelings, their relationships with their peers, and how these things impact their choices and learning.
Please help me add more picture books into our library collection that provide access to topics about feelings and open up the discussion for students at all of our grade levels.
When my teachers, school counselors, or staff come to the Media Center seeking books to help support a discussion about compassion, inclusion, feelings, friendship, perseverance, caring, trust, and more, I want to have relevant, quality books for them to share with our students to help open up these conversations.
The titles for this DonorsChoose.org project will help fill this need. Many are popular titles that will circulate with our students and will be available for our teachers and staff. Thank you for your help and support in developing our SEL collection!
