My Project
In all cultures, children are always learning new things. Within the last few weeks, our Pre-K grade team has had an influx of non-English speaking students. They are intelligent children who want to actively participate in lessons. As an educator, I am always searching for tools that can help my students garner and maintain a love for learning.
iPad with Google Translate capabilities are tools that will help my ELL/ESOL students navigate between languages as they begin their journey to become fluent dual language students.
Using an iPad as a learning tool for children whose primary language is not English allows them to actively participate in grade-level lessons, activities, and assignments. My ELL/ESOL students will be able to acclimate to their new learning environment more quickly, and they will be able to show their true academic ability.
Being able to equip my team's classrooms with an iPad plus Google Translate helps to make learning more equitable by lessening the language barrier for students who are new to the United States of America. Education should be without borders. That is the sentiment I want for my classroom.
