Let's Take Care of the Maslow before the Bloom

Help me give my students Welch's fruit snacks, crackers, and various energy bars will satisfy their hunger and provide energy to tackle the academic demands of the class period.

My Project

My school is a Title 1 and also a trauma-informed school. Despite the federal funding of free food at the cafeteria, my kids are always hungry and very comfortable enough to ask for food from me. Teachers like me provide a small pantry of snacks for kids out of our pocket. This is very normal scenario because our adolescents are growing and their metabolism is faster than any adults in school. There is a popular Snickers ad that says "You are not you when you are hungry". This dialogue resonates with almost all of my kids.

Therefore, before I can make authentic instructional decisions, I need to take care of my kids' basic needs to satisfy their hunger!

This initiative will not only take care of Bloom's taxonomy of learning but also foster the support of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Your generous donation and empathy for my kids will make a positive impact on their learning.
