About My Students

My students thirst for knowledge and wisdom, but often lack the resources to quench their thirst.

My school is located in Queens, N.Y., the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world. The children who enter my classroom, come from all over NYC.

As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge, that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, many times, resources are scarce.

We want to see the world, but costly trips around the globe are out of our reach. A Google Expedition Kit is the answer to our prayers! How amazing would it be if inner city kids were offered the opportunity to see the greatness and beauty of our planet, without ever having to leave the comfort and safety of our classroom? Studies show that students who travel, and have experiences outside of their microcosm, are more likely to succeed, become lifelong learners, and active members in their communities. Please help my students soar far beyond the confines of the inner city.

In Their Own Words

The goal we are trying to accomplish here is to take education a step further, to get students, like me, intrigued, to explore the world to get a deeper understanding, and most importantly help my teacher take teaching to the next level. My peers will love this! Making learning exciting for us and exposing us to new ways of learning through the latest technology.

Leadership skills will have an impact on my peers and me, teaching us to respect and care for technology. Learning leadership skills will help us in the future, give us better opportunities, and a better mind set. Having more technology in the classroom will help us later on in life in the workforce. Taking small steps now will later on impact my peers and me in a huge way.

This project is very important to my school community because it will impact our classes in such a strong way. We can not travel all over the world, so we will use this technology to travel virtually. This project will help us for many subjects and topics, helping our visual learners and also help us to increase the understanding in our lessons, that will end up increasing my school communities test scores.
