This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students enjoy coming into our building daily to escape the harsh realities they face in their lives. As a community school we attempt to build resiliency, life-long learners and leaders that will eventually become active members of the community and game-changers.
Another larger population in our school are first-generation immigrants who have immigrated to this country for better lives and futures.
Our building becomes a safe haven as a community school providing a full day refuge and safe haven for youngsters until 6 pm daily.
My Project
Social media and peer pressure are at an all-time high, so being able to take care of their laundry while students are at school is one less stress for them to tackle at home. Since our school building is open until 6 pm daily there is privacy, there is enough time to schedule your laundry while still handling your other responsibilities at school.
As many of our families are struggling financially this will undoubtedly alleviate learning for our young people.
Allowing a safe and free place for students to do laundry will provide the necessary support needed to adequately learn during the school day and year.
