Ms. Turner from Miami FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a lap top and an iPad as their engineering careers await them!

Another year of sardines in a can. This is the best analogy for our packed to capacity third grade class, which is even more condensed in the morning for some odd reason. Nevertheless, the teaching job has to get done. At the end of the year, I want my students to be superb writers and readers. Our biggest challenge again is space and lack of ample resources.
My students are inner city students from an impoverished neighborhood in Miami.
They are chatty and energetic. Academically, they are poor readers and terrible writers. This trend has followed many of them from kindergarten. Our school is small and upcoming. Improvements are being notably made. My new principal is working diligently to get the students the resources they need.
My class just recently received a donation of a classroom set of Spheros. Sphero Edu provides a tool set that is unbounded in its potential. The program goes beyond code by incorporating robotics and technology with collaborative STEAM activities, nurturing students' imaginations in ways no other education program can. Students learn computer programming, perimeter, area, and many engineering skills through the use of these robots. The robotic systems are controlled by tablets or cellular devices. My classroom is short one tablet device. Once I receive an additional iPad I will have enough tablets for the entire class.
Programming the devices for my students require the use of a laptop or desktop.
Unfortunately, my classroom desktops are out of date and cannot support the software needed to program the robots. I am requesting a laptop as it is needed to program the robotic systems and assign my students' assignments.
