Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Ana, is doing everything to finish her High School Diploma for a better education and a better future.
Samia, finishing her High School Diploma so she can go to college to become a nurse. She has always wanted to be a nurse so she can help others.

Students do a lot of writing projects producing clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience. Students develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing and rewriting. They write several times a day anything from quick-writes to essays, and solve mathematical equations. We currently have a pencil sharpener that is glitchy. We need a heavy duty pencil sharpener to allow us to "stay sharp."
In Their Own Words
It would be great to have a heavy duty classroom pencil sharpener that works so we can write with ease and without delay. We would like to make life easier and work more efficiently. We selected one that is easy to use and heavy duty to meet the high demand. It would easily fit perfectly into our classroom. Sharp pencils are vital to our classroom use.
The leadership opportunity involved in creating this project involved input from each of us as to what would be the best choice to pursue. We collaborated together to make the decision. It is something everyone will use extensively. We need a device that is heavy duty and dependable in our classroom.
The choice of this device for our classroom is important to me and my school community. We have numerous groups using our building that include three English as a Second Language (ESL), GED classes, and our Epic de Cesar Chavez class which offers high school diplomas for adults in our community. With the heavy use we encounter, we need something that is up to the task.
