Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 5th grade at a Title I school in California. I am fortunate to work with highly engaged, kind and thoughtful individuals.

All of my students are bilingual in Spanish and English.

Most receive free breakfast and lunch at school and have parents who work multiple jobs to help support their families. Although it is financially challenging for them to provide all of the necessary materials for school, they are involved in their children's education and eager to help the school community.

I love my job because I have the pleasure every day of working with a group of kids who want to better their lives through education. I learn so much from them!

My Project

Next year will be different from past years for Meadow Homes 5th graders. Instead of one teacher in charge of all subjects, I will be teaming with other teachers and will be responsible for teaching all bilingual students English and Spanish Language Arts. This is not only an exciting opportunity to focus on the subject that I love, but is beneficial in preparing students for middle school.

One challenge will be organization.
