This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with an amazing group of first grade students at a Title I school in the Northeast section of the Bronx, NY. My students are eager to learn, highly inquisitive and enjoy exploring their environment. They enter the classroom with excitement, open minds, and caring hearts. Our classroom is a safe, inclusive and engaging community where possibilities are limitless! However, due to high temperatures in the classroom and the lack of a working air conditioning system it creates for a stifling and uncomfortable learning environment for students and staff.
As classroom temperatures soar, their resilience for learning goes down and my ability to actually be able to engage them academically goes down as well.
We would benefit greatly by having fans in the classroom to help ventilate and cool off the room to make the environment comfortable and optimal for student health, learning, engagement and creativity!
